Where do the numbers come from?
We calculated the numbers from the official results of the biggest Budapest races. Only the net times and the runners’ gender were used, aggregated and without names or personal data. Your place is estimated from your time against the distribution of finishers.
The field here means the finishers of these races, not all runners: people who enter races are usually fitter than average, but big festivals also bring many beginners to the finish. The Budapest races have many international runners too.

Frequently asked questions
What is the average running time for 5K, 10K, half marathon and marathon?
Based on the finishers of Hungary’s biggest races, the median (the middle finisher’s time) is 32:34 over 5K, 1:01:35 over 10K, 2:04:31 in the half marathon and 4:12:17 in the marathon.
How do you calculate where I would rank?
For each distance we stored what share of finishers crossed the line under which time (in 1% steps). We place your time among these and tell you what share of the field was faster. That is also how we get your approximate place out of 1,000 runners.
Why are the averages for men and women different?
The gap between genders is about 10–12% at the elite level and similar among recreational runners. That is why it is worth comparing your time with your own gender too.
Where does the data come from?
From the official results of the biggest Budapest races, from the 5K runs to the marathon. Only net times and gender were used, without names, aggregated.
